Shell Reports Brief Fire at Deer Park, Texas, Facility

Royal Dutch Shell PLC reported a brief fire and leak at its Deer
Park refining and chemical facility near Houston.
"An outside operator found a fire on E-5354 exchanger," Shell
said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality. "The fire was caused by a leak on the heat exchanger head
that autoignited."
It said the incident also caused emissions that began Monday
night and ended two hours later, adding the fire was stopped and
the "unit was shut down and depressured."
Shell Deer Park is on the Houston Ship Channel, 20 miles east of
downtown Houston. The facility includes a 285,000-barrel-a-day
refinery.
