BATH, England, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
A Case Study in Making Cloud-based
Information Easier to Work With
Investec Asset Management is a global leader in investment
management. It provides investment products and services to
institutions, advisory clients and individuals. Clients include
pension funds, central banks, sovereign wealth funds, insurers,
foundations, financial advisers and individual investors. As of
early 2015, it has some $117 billion
under management.
It's the job of the Client Services team to be the primary
interface between Investec and its clients. As such, it's important
that they can quickly and precisely tap into Investec's vast set of
information resources: market research and analysis, fund
information and performance reports, presentations and marketing
materials.
But in such an information-rich environment, execs could spend a
lot of their time simply trying to track down relevant files.
UK tech startup Cloudfind is now providing Investec with a
solution to that problem: an automated application that
intelligently tags files stored in the cloud. The app's patented
algorithms build the enterprise taxonomy, automatically, from the
ground up. Cloudfind requires no intervention, no "training" of the
system, no seed lists or manual analysis.
Investec selected Cloudfind to provide seamless access to
exactly the right documents across their cloud CRM (Salesforce) and
cloud-storage (Huddle) platforms.
Andrew McDonald, Client Group
Solutions, Investec Asset Management commented: "Our cloud
platforms were great for accessing information, they just didn't
make information easier to actually work with."
With Cloudfind embedded directly within the Salesforce user
interface, users are able to browse the Huddle repository by using
familiar tags. This is significantly faster and more precise than
conventional search methods. Users find the information they need
typically within 2-4 clicks. This compares with a much less
predictable keyword search cycle of anything from 3 to 15 minutes -
often still generating an email or phone call for further
assistance.
As new files from the Marketing team are published to the
corporate cloud store, Cloudfind automatically determines and
applies the appropriate tags.
For the Client Services team, Cloudfind shortcuts provide
instant access to files related by subject or type, such as
"Quarterly Reports", even if those files are actually located
across multiple folders. This means users no longer need to
navigate folder hierarchies to find related files.
The benefits to the Client Services team are clear: "Cloudfind
makes it incredibly quick and easy to find relevant material within
just a few clicks."
Cloudfind CEO, Sebastian
Toke-Nichols, added: "Investec is a perfect example of how
automatic tagging of files can help businesses operate more
smoothly and efficiently. As more businesses put information into
the cloud, they need more sophisticated ways to find, share and
organize it."
