The Rite Aid Foundation announced today a $50,000 donation to
the American Red Cross to help the victims, families and
communities in northern California affected by the wildfires.
“The devastation caused by the wildfires is heart-breaking,”
said Tracy Henderson, director of The Rite Aid Foundation and
charitable giving initiatives. “While we can’t undo the damage done
by the fires, The Rite Aid Foundation hopes that this donation
enables the American Red Cross to address both the immediate needs
of those affected like food, water and shelter, and long-term needs
as communities start the process of rebuilding in the weeks and
months to come.”
“Thanks to the generosity of The Rite Aid Foundation, the Red
Cross is able to provide food, shelter, emotional support and
supplies to people affected by disasters like the California
wildfires and countless other crises as they work to rebuild their
lives,” said Elizabeth Penniman, vice president, communications at
the American Red Cross.
Since its inception in 2001, The Rite Aid Foundation has awarded
more than $32 million to non-profit organizations. Additionally,
Rite Aid, through the efforts of its customers, supplier partners
and associates, has also raised more than $81 million for
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country since
1994.
