Due to recent and heavy rainfall, the water level of Lake
Oroville in Butte County, California, has drastically increased,
reaching a dangerous peak that led to the evacuation of over
100,000 people as a precaution, in case there was a dam
failure.

The Airbus SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 satellites constantly acquire
imagery at 1.5m resolution on any point of the Earth, and are
capturing this water level elevation in Oroville.
You can see here an image acquired by SPOT on February
14, 2017, and can compare it to a previous image, acquired
by SPOT 6 on June 27, 2016, where the lake banks are clearly
visible.
