NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AllianceBernstein L.P. ("AB"), a leading global investment management firm, today announced it received a perfect score of 100 on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. AB's perfect score reflects a deep commitment to LGBT workplace equality, with respect to tangible policies, benefits, and practices. AB joins the ranks of 407 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year.

The 2016 CEI rated a total of 1,027 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. AB's efforts in satisfying all of the CEI's criteria results in a 100 percent score and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.

"We are honored to have received a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index," said Peter Kraus, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at AB.  "This award reflects our deep commitment to build an inclusive work environment that embraces all backgrounds and truly reflects the diversity of our clients and communities."

"In this 2016 Corporate Equality Index, hundreds of major businesses responded to our new standards for workplace equality with exceptional leadership. AB not only meets these standards, it goes above and beyond the call of duty, making commitment to equality a fundamental aspect of its corporate values," said Deena Fidas, HRC Foundation Workplace Equality Program Director.

As part of AB's ongoing effort to strengthen its commitment to responsible corporate behavior, it launched its inaugural Corporate Responsibility report earlier this year. The report outlines the firm's efforts to build a diverse and inclusive workforce, engage local communities, reduce its environmental footprint, ensure the sustainability of its operations and enhance the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues in its investment processes.
