HOUSTON, June 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Amegy Bank of Texas has named Laif Afseth as president of the Company and Dave Stevenson as market president of the bank's Houston region.

In his new position, Afseth will continue to maintain a significant role in defining and implementing Amegy's strategic direction, supervising risk management and managing several lending groups. Stevenson will be focused on market leadership and growing the bank's commercial, retail, business banking and private banking business in the greater Houston area.

Afseth has most recently served as executive director of Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Lending. He has also been responsible for management of Amegy's Regional Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking and Energy Group. He joined Amegy in 2003 as a commercial lender and has grown his career at the bank in commercial lending manager and syndicated finance manager roles. Prior to joining Amegy, Afseth worked for JP Morgan Chase and predecessor organizations for 12 years in the Syndicated Finance and Private Placements Group.

Afseth holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Masters of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. Active in the Houston community, he is a member of the Finance Committee of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and is a member of the Building Committee and Finance Committee of River Oaks Baptist School. Additionally, he served as chair of the bank's United Way campaign and is active in the ongoing annual campaigns.

Stevenson most recently served as an executive vice president and director of Private and Community Banking, responsible for the bank's Retail, Business, SBA and Private Banking divisions. He has 27 years of experience in the banking profession and joined Amegy Bank in 1991.Originally joining the bank as a vice president in Private Banking, he opened the first de-novo branch in Greenway Plaza. Following a three year departure from banking into private business, he returned to Amegy in 2003 as senior vice president, manager of commercial lending for the Southwest region, building a lending group that surpassed the $500 million mark in deposits and $300 million in loan commitments. He also serves as an executive sponsor of Amegy's Officer Development Program. Prior to joining Amegy, Stevenson worked with Allied Bank and Texas Commerce Bank in the Private Banking divisions.

Stevenson earned a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Finance from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He currently serves on the Board of Pro-Vision Charter School and the Board of Harris County MUD 406.
