NEW YORK, May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SiriusXM
announced today that it has signed Peter
Oosterhuis, who became one of golf's most respected TV
broadcasters following a successful playing career, to host a new
show on the SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio channel.
Oosty & Fred, which Oosterhuis will host alongside
Fred Albers, will air live Saturday
mornings from 8:00 to 10:00 am ET
starting May 23. Oosterhuis and Albers will take calls from
listeners across the country and discuss the game's current events
and players, and Peter will share his many experiences and stories
from more than four decades in golf as a player and
broadcaster.
SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio is available to listeners nationwide on
satellite radios (Sirius channel 208, XM channel 93), on the
SiriusXM app and online at SiriusXM.com.
"I've always been a fan of SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio and
throughout my career I've always enjoyed talking to golf fans,
whether on the course or from the TV booth, and that's what makes
this show such an exciting venture for me," said Oosterhuis.
"I'm looking forward to the interaction with our listeners, hearing
about their experiences in the game, and sharing some of my own as
well."
"Peter is one of the most recognizable voices in golf and for
decades he has given fans a perspective on many of the biggest
events in the sport," said Scott
Greenstein, SiriusXM's President and Chief Content
Officer. "We're thrilled to have him on SiriusXM PGA TOUR
Radio, talking directly to our listeners every Saturday. With
his experience as both a successful player and broadcaster,
Oosty & Fred will be a fun and informative show for
anyone who loves the game of golf."
The British-born Oosterhuis won seven times on the European Tour
and played the PGA TOUR for 11 years. He was part of six
Ryder Cup teams from 1971-1981, compiling a 14-11-3 individual
record. He won the Canadian Open in 1981 and he finished as
runner-up at the Open Championship in 1974 and 1982. He was
the European Tour's leading money winner in 1974.
Oosterhuis began working as a TV analyst in 1995 and for three
decades has been a widely respected voice in golf television.
He worked at Golf Channel, BBC and CBS – where he was a member of
the Masters broadcast team for 18 years - before retiring from the
television booth earlier this year.
Fred Albers is a longtime member
of SiriusXM's broadcast team for live PGA TOUR events. He
worked for more than three decades as a sports broadcaster in
El Paso, Texas, where he also did
play-by-play for University of Texas at El
Paso basketball games and hosted The Don Haskins
Show.
