Duerr Chosen for Track Record Transforming
Market Perceptions for Microsoft, Adobe and GoDaddy
Rocket Fuel (NASDAQ: FUEL), a leading Programmatic Marketing
Platform provider, today announced the appointment of Eric Duerr as
the company’s Chief Marketing Officer. In this role, Duerr will be
charged with overseeing all of Rocket Fuel’s marketing initiatives
to drive awareness and adoption of its industry-leading
technology.
Duerr is an accomplished digital marketing executive, most
recently CEO of digital marketing agency Emphatic, with deep
experience transforming market perceptions for some of the world’s
most successful brands:
- While working with Adobe, Duerr helped
define the “Marketing Cloud” category, turning Adobe Summit into
the largest lead-generating digital marketing event in the US and
driving predictable sales results for Adobe, year over year;
- On behalf of Microsoft, Duerr drove the
creation and adoption of an operations playbook to ensure marketing
led to concrete sales results for numerous Microsoft marketing
initiatives, including agency holding company partnerships;
- Working with GoDaddy since 2013, Duerr
helped craft its IPO communications, evolve the value proposition
to very small businesses, and improve the company’s reputation with
woman in technology.
Said Duerr, “Why do I want to be CMO at Rocket Fuel? Because the
‘tech’ in ad tech has been overhyped. Most companies in this
category look to marketing to make automation sound like it’s
actually robust technology. But Rocket Fuel, far and away, is
sitting on the industry’s best tech and needs to bring it to market
with more clarity and consistency. This is a great problem to
have.” Continued Duerr, “Being able to drive predictable demand by
aligning the four wheels of a high-performing, go-to-market
capability -- product, marketing, sales, and services -- and
delivering that experience to customers is what I’m here to
achieve.”
“I’ve worked with Eric since the early 2000s at Microsoft and
Yahoo!, and now at GoDaddy,” said Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy. “At
every stage of this journey, he has helped galvanize our strategic
thinking and communicate our vision to our customers, partners, and
investors.”
To further strengthen Rocket Fuel’s direct-to-marketer sales
capabilities, the company also today announced it has hired Kevin
Ferguson as vice president of enterprise sales. Ferguson is a
seasoned sales executive with 20 years of direct sales, management,
and SaaS and marketing technology experience. He has an outstanding
track record growing both early-stage and mature companies,
including his tenure at Eloqua in the lead up to its acquisition by
Oracle. Ferguson has successfully sold into major brands such as
Symantec, DISH and DirecTV.
“Rocket Fuel needs to be crystal clear -- and tenacious -- in
articulating the distinct value of our Moment Scoring technology, ”
said Randy Wootton, CEO of Rocket Fuel. “Bringing on Eric and Kevin
is a crucial step for us to build the full-stack marketing and
sales organization we need to become a company that sells software
and services, in addition to media. I believe we now have the
go-to-market muscle to unlock Rocket Fuel’s incredible value.”
