STOCKHOLM--Swedish network technology supplier Ericsson said Tuesday that it has signed a seven-year deal with the British Broadcasting Corp. to provide network broadcasting technology, known as playout services.

The deal includes playout and media management services for the BBC's portfolio of channels in the U.K., BBC World News and its interactive service.

Ericsson didn't disclose the value of the contract, but according to documents from the BBC the tender is valued between 150 million and 248 million pounds ($229 million-$379 million).

The BBC's previous playout contract was awarded to RedBee Media, a U.K. media services company, whose acquisition by Ericsson was completed in 2014.
