Swedish telecommunications group Ericsson (ERIC) Wednesday announced the construction of a new campus in Santa Clara, California, as it seeks to boost its presence in Silicon Valley, the location of many of the world's largest technology companies.

The facility will be ready for its first occupants in the third quarter of 2015, Ericsson said.

"The new campus will consolidate Ericsson's Silicon Valley operations, bringing together approximately 2,000 Ericsson staff dedicated to driving innovation in IP (Internet Protocol) and TV and Media," the company said.
