Executive Dean of the College of Information
Systems and Technology Named to Hispanic Community-Advisory
Organization
In keeping with his long-held commitment to fostering bonds with
Hispanic communities in Arizona and throughout the country, Dennis
Bonilla, executive dean of University of Phoenix’s College of
Information Systems and Technology, has been named to the Arizona
Los D-backs Ambassadors Council. Since its founding, the
Ambassadors Council has served to develop strategies for enhancing
the relationship between the D-backs and the Hispanic community. As
a member, Bonilla will serve as a key advisor to the D-backs
organization regarding the team’s community outreach and
engagement.
“For over 10 years the Arizona Diamondbacks have relied on the
Los D-backs Ambassadors Council for their valuable input and
opinions regarding projects and initiatives impacting the Hispanic
community,” said Jerry Romo, manager, Hispanic Marketing for the
Arizona Diamondbacks. “Having Dennis as a member of this
hand-picked group of community leaders will only enhance the
council’s dynamics. His experience, energy and commitment to
the Hispanic community will be a valuable asset to the group and
our entire organization.”
As an established leader in the community, Bonilla also joined
the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at the
beginning of 2016. As a member, he and 40 other Arizona business
leaders share the mission to promote the success of Hispanic-owned
and small businesses in the state.
“This appointment is another testament to the University’s
involvement and overall mission to create, develop and implement
services, programs and initiatives that promote cross-cultural
understanding and appreciation of diversity,” said Dr. Angie
Williams, dean of multicultural affairs and diversity at University
of Phoenix. “Throughout our history, we have worked to provide
underserved populations with access to higher education, and Dennis
continues to demonstrate the visible leadership that supports the
University’s commitment to being a diverse and inclusive learning
environment.”
The appointment of one of the University’s academic leaders to
an organization focused on involvement with Hispanic communities in
Arizona reaffirms University of Phoenix’s commitment to diversity
and its connection to the students it serves. For more information
