NEW DELHI--The Indian government is keen for Apple Inc. to
manufacture its devices in the country, Information Technology
Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said Wednesday.
A detailed proposal from Apple on the matter "will be considered
with open mind," he said at a news conference following a cabinet
meeting.
The U.S. tech giant has been discussing with the Indian
government the possibility of making its products in the populous
nation, according to two senior government officials. Apple has
declined to comment on the matter in the past.
Apple wants to expand its sales and presence in the South Asian
country, analysts say.
