Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported a leak and gas emissions at its
Baytown, Texas, refinery, but said there was no impact to
production.
"Tower overhead condenser outlet valve packing leak resulted in
emissions," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality. The incident happened Monday,
and emissions lasted about two hours, it said.
"Tower was removed from service and leak was isolated," it said.
"The event has ended. There is no impact to production."
The 561,000-barrel-a-day Baytown refinery, located 25 miles east
of Houston, is the nation's second-largest refinery after Saudi
Aramco's 600,000-barrel-a-day Motiva Port Arthur refinery.
