AT&T Inc. and Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday said they were
teaming up to help customers connect machines and equipment to the
cloud with "a new solution built on AT&T's global cellular
network and Microsoft Azure Sphere."
The companies said the AT&T powered guardian device
"combines the secured architecture of Azure Sphere, a comprehensive
IoT security solution including hardware, OS and cloud services
with Azure IoT services and the global and multi-layered security
of AT&T's core network."
Companies will be able to connect devices and machines to their
own cloud environment without needing to connect to a third-party
Wi-Fi work connection, the companies said, adding the "guardian
device is easy to install and provides an end-to-end solution for
connecting machines and equipment to the cloud, bypassing the need
for public Internet."
AT&T and Microsoft said they launched an extensive
multi-year alliance last year.
