“We’re proud to recognize innovative products that are designed
to not irritate the dry, itchy, flaky symptoms of psoriasis,” said
Randy Beranek, president and CEO, NPF. “Tide Free and Gentle
Laundry Detergent and Tide PODS® Free and Gentle Laundry Detergent
have been independently reviewed by a panel of dermatologists and
people living with psoriasis and are recognized by the NPF as
proven to be gentle for skin afflicted with psoriasis, psoriatic
arthritis or any type of sensitive skin.”
The NPF’s Seal of Recognition highlights over-the-counter
products that are recognized to help ease irritation for those
living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis or those with
sensitive skin or limited mobility. The NEA has also provided Tide
Free & Gentle with the Seal of Acceptance™ that recognizes
products that are suitable for people with eczema or sensitive
skin.
“We created the Seal of Acceptance™ to help people clearly
identify products that are designed for individuals with eczema or
sensitive skin,” said Julie Block, President and CEO of the
National Eczema Association. “We know it can be difficult to find
the right solution for your family when someone has eczema, so the
seal is meant to help remove some of the guesswork.”
Manufacturers interested in submitting their products for NPF
and NEA seals must go through an application, evaluation, and
approval process that includes providing the product’s ingredients,
formulation, and independently tested scientific data, including
human irritation patch testing, that demonstrates the product does
not irritate skin with psoriasis, eczema, and severe sensitive
skin.
"As a dermatologist, I provide my patients with laundry
recommendations that are proven to be mild on skin,” said Joshua
Zeichner, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Mount Sinai
Hospital in New York City. “Detergents with fragrances and dyes can
cause skin irritation and allergies, so I recommend that my
patients avoid them. It's important not to sacrifice cleansing
ability for skin mildness, because if a detergent is not effective,
patients will go back to conventional detergents that may be
damaging to the skin.”
Tide is proud to have met the rigorous qualification process for
these seals and to deliver the clean people can expect from Tide
while being gentle on sensitive skin.
