Recent Developments at IMT Ghaziabad to set new Benchmarks in
Management Education in India
NEW DELHI, November 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
With its Newly Revamped Curriculum of
Global Breadth, India Depth, IMT Ghaziabad has set its Foot to Span
the World of Management With its Innovative Approach Towards
Creating Global Leaders
IMT Ghaziabad is consistently being ranked as a top 10
management institute across all credible ranking agencies. IMT
Nagpur and Dubai are also fast
rising to the top league. All this is a result of several game
changing initiatives in management education.
Mr. Kamal Nath, the Minister of
Urban Development, and President, IMT Group recently stated,
"Economies across the globe are rapidly integrating into a mega
world economy. In this era of strategic alliances, joint ventures
and unpredictable market conditions, cross-cultural capabilities
and visionary leadership are requisites of the corporate
world."
Clearly, 'Brand IMT' has been envisaged as a global brand, not
just in terms of a campus in Dubai, but in terms of innovations as well.
IMT Ghaziabad has concluded partnerships at a neck-break speed ever
since the beginning of the 2011 academic session, with iconic
institutions like the Kellogg School of Management (USA), International Business School of Service
Management (Hamburg, Germany) -
regarded as the leader in Service Management Studies - and top
South Asian Universities like the University of Diponegoro,
Semarang (Malaysia), and Sampoorna
School of Business, Djakarta (Indonesia). Students at IMT Ghaziabad are the
clear beneficiaries of these international internships.
"IMT Ghaziabad also launched India's first Doctorate in Business
Administration (DBA) in association with Grenoble Ecole De
Management, France, in 2012,"
elaborates Dr. Bibek Banerjee,
Director, IMT Ghaziabad. "We also included new courses like
International Business & India's Growing Integration and
Business, Government & Society in India."
In June 2012, IMT Ghaziabad was
also instrumental in bringing the 7th Global Business
School Network (GBSN) conference to India. It was, infact, the first time that a
GBSN conference was held in Asia.
The conference was attended by luminaries of business education
from 37 countries including the UK, USA, France,
Switzerland, Denmark, South
Africa, Nigeria,
Nepal, etc.
"It was an honour to host the GBSN in Delhi. GBSN is the most important global
think-tank on business education," summarises Dr. Banerjee.
"Between 11th and 13th of June this year, the
GBSN debated all possible nuances of 'How does management education
empower development'. IMT Ghaziabad is happy to have played its
vanguard role in positioning India
as a prime business education destination in the world. We were
able to develop and nurture a number of new and unique partnerships
and programmes across the globe during the GBSN conference."
In 2012, IMT Ghaziabad concluded one of its lengthiest
innovations - a complete curriculum revamp. A committee of 9 core
faculty members, headed by the Director, Dr. Bibek Banerjee, had for quite a few years been
working on a new curriculum, down to the way it was delivered.
Entire courses were redesigned and restructured, and new courses
included as well. Apart from IMT Ghaziabad's pool of 70 Faculty
members, the curriculum was run through leading industrialists and
corporate honchos before being implemented with the 2012
session.
"Entrants to the 2012-14 batch started their management
education 15 days before they entered the IMT Ghaziabad campus,
through its revolutionary, 15-day Pre-Foundation module," points
out Dr. Banerjee. "The Pre-Foundation module ensures that by
the time students enter IMT Ghaziabad all are at the same plane,
prepared to attend the completely revamped 'industry interaction
heavy' foundation programme. This year, we also collaborated with
Genpact, a global leader in business and knowledge processes, to
develop courses and research projects in the analytics domain at
IMT Ghaziabad."
Interestingly, by allowing its passing-out students the liberty
to defer their placement process by a year, IMT Ghaziabad has
innovatively promoted the spirit of entrepreneurship. This policy
inculcated in 2012, allows more number of students to go after
start-up ventures, with the confidence of a fall-back plan.
