St. Mary’s Home
Mead Johnson Nutrition (MJN) Canada announces today that St.
Mary’s Home in Ottawa has been given a US$250,000 donation to help
support their ongoing efforts to encourage and support young
pregnant women, young parents and their children. Mead Johnson has
a long history of giving back to the communities in which it
operates, and recognizes the important role that companies can play
– in partnership with charitable organizations, community leaders
and government bodies – in helping to protect at-risk populations
and helping to make local communities better and more compassionate
places to live.
“We have been in partnership with St. Mary’s Home for the past 6
years – supporting them in the services they provide to individuals
and new families in the city of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. What
they do every day for parents and young children throughout our
community impresses and inspires us,” said Don Robb, General
Manager for MJN Canada. “Their work is aligned with Mead Johnson’s
philanthropic focus on helping to meet the nutritional,
developmental and education needs of infants and children in
fragile and vulnerable circumstances, as well as supporting parents
and strong families. It is our hope that this funding serves as a
catalyst for other support for this great cause – to enable St.
Mary’s Home to continue growing their operations to support unmet
needs for their services and put even more infants, parents and
families on the path toward healthier and more successful
tomorrows.”
“We see young families face struggles every day, and we strive,
through our programs, to build on their strengths so that they have
healthy pregnancies and births. We want to help parents develop the
necessary skills to raise healthy, happy and successful children,”
noted Shauna Graham, President of the Board of St. Mary’s Home. We
sincerely thank Mead Johnson Nutrition Canada for their ongoing
interest and support to our organization. The donation from the MJN
Foundation will provide us the opportunity to build an investment
fund that will grow and be used to address future needs of St.
Mary’s Home and growing demand for the critical services we
offer.”
Honorable Madeleine Meilleur, MPP for Ottawa-Vanier, spoke about
the relationship, saying, “Meaningful partnerships that improve our
communities are always welcome. It is important for all sectors,
including private industry, to work together in creating a more
compassionate and caring community. Mead Johnson Nutrition Canada
and St. Mary’s Home are leading by example, and I applaud their
partnership.”
