Latam Airlines Group SA (LFL, LAN.SN) will resume operations of
its Boeing Co. (BA) 787 Dreamliners in "coming days," the Chilean
holding company said in a statement late Wednesday.
In January, Latam Airlines suspended service of its Boeing 787s
following a directive from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration
after the aircraft presented technical problems with its
batteries.
The carrier, Latin America's largest by market capitalization,
completed a test flight with one of its 787s after making changes
to the aircraft's battery system as suggested by Boeing and the
FAA.
"The operation of the aircraft was completely normal. We have
complied with all of the required modifications," Ignacio Cueto,
chief executive of Latam Airlines' LAN Airlines unit, said in the
statement.
Latam Airlines was born in June from the merger of Chilean LAN
Airlines SA and Brazilian carrier TAM SA.
LAN has received three of the 32 jets it ordered. Boeing will
deliver the remainder over the next 10 years.
