LONDON, Feb. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- International
Game Technology PLC ("IGT") (NYSE: IGT) announced the achievement
of the Internet Responsible Gambling Compliance Assessment Program
(iCAP) certification. IGT was commended for its commitment to
responsible gaming after completing the Program.
The iCAP certification provides assurance to operators and
consumers that IGT's business-to-consumer (B2C) websites and IGT
platforms offered in the business-to- business (B2B) market are
trustworthy, and also validates that they are compliant with the
Internet Responsible Gambling Standards (IRGS). In 2012, the
National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) developed the IRGS,
which are the highest standards for online responsible gaming in
the U.S., meeting or exceeding the existing online regulations
adhered to by jurisdictions around the world.
"IGT will continue to operate with the highest standards of
service, integrity, and responsibility," said Matteo
Monteverdi, Senior Vice President, Global Product Marketing,
Interactive. "One of our primary Corporate Social
Responsibility objectives is to ensure the integrity of the
products and services we offer for the sole purpose of protecting
players around the world. We will continue to strive to meet and,
where possible, exceed iCAP requirements, and institutionalize a
program that will be ever evolving and continually
improving."
IGT applied for iCAP certification at the beginning of January.
The application verified the effectiveness of the technology
solutions and tools IGT provides on its remote gaming platforms to
monitor players' behavior and assess any potential excessive or
illegal gaming activities.
To obtain the iCAP certification, IGT received an independent
assessment by Gambling Integrity (GI), a U.K.-based organization
whose mission is to ensure the highest quality and effectiveness of
player protection systems offered by operators and vendors. GI
worked in collaboration with the NCPG to verify the compliance of
IGT's responsible gaming program against the IRGS.
In order to comply with the iCAP certification requirements, the
Company enhanced the responsible gaming content found on IGT's B2C
portal, www.IGTGames.com. In addition, the Company designed an
e-learning training for B2C Contact Center employees.
In particular, IGT offers:
- Self-exclusion mechanisms
- Display of wagers
- Integration with ID Verification Systems
- Integration with Age Verification Systems
- Limits on spending and/or losses and/or deposits
- Reality checks on the game screen
- Data protection controls.
"Congratulations to IGT for the rigorous iCAP
assessment," said Keith S.
Whyte, Executive Director of the NCPG. "It
demonstrates leadership to seek this voluntary certification and
commitment to achieve it."
