Fluor Corporation was named as a 2015 Award Finalist by the
Edison Awards™ for Fluor’s 3rd Gen Modular ExecutionSM approach.
The distinguished awards, inspired by Thomas Edison’s persistence
and inventiveness, recognize innovation, creativity and ingenuity
around four criteria: concept, value, delivery and impact.
Clients benefit from the 3rd Gen Modular ExecutionSM approach
through reduced material quantities associated with reduced
facility footprints, productivity gains for work shifted to shop
and reduced costs for field labor. Compared to traditional project
execution methods, 3rd Gen can lower total installed costs for
owners by up to 20 percent. Fluor is implementing this innovative
approach on numerous projects including a 1 million ton-per-year
carbon capture facility in Alberta, Canada which Fluor completed at
the end of 2014.
“Fluor is pleased to be chosen as a finalist for the Edison
Awards for our innovative project execution approach designed to
improve our clients’ capital efficiency,” said Jason Kraynek, vice
president of Fluor’s Business Transformation & Innovation
group. “This recognition provides objective, third-party validation
that Fluor’s 3rd Gen Modular ExecutionSM approach is not only
innovative, but provides true project delivery value to our global
clients.”
“It’s exciting to see companies like Fluor continuing Thomas
Edison’s legacy of challenging conventional thinking,” said Frank
Bonafilia, Edison Awards’ executive director. “The Edison Awards
recognizes game-changing products and services and the teams that
created them.”
Edison Award nominees are judged by more than 3,000 senior
business executives and academic professionals from across the
nation whose votes acknowledge the finalists’ success in meeting
the award’s stringent criteria. The voting panel includes members
of many professional organizations, including the American Society
of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Association of Technology
Management & Applied Engineering (ATMAE). Award winners will be
announced on April 23, 2015 at the Edison Awards Annual Gala in New
York.
