LONDON--Nanoco Group PLC (NANO.LN), a U.K. developer of tiny
semiconductor particles called quantum dots, Wednesday said it
appointed Keith Wiggins, a former Dow Chemical Co. (DOW) executive,
in the new role of Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Wiggins joined Dow in 1989 as a sales manager and served as
managing director for the U.K., Ireland and Nordic region until
2013.
Nanoco and Dow are jointly progressing a plan to sell quantum
dots for use in screen displays. Shares in Nanoco soared last week
after it said a new plant in South Korea will begin commercial
production in the first half of next year.
Based at Nanoco's Manchester headquarters, Mr. Wiggins will take
charge of important customer relationships and advancing Nanoco's
early-stage businesses in LED lighting, solar power and
bio-imaging, Nanoco said.
At 0705 GMT, shares were up two pence or 1% at 152 pence.
