ADR Shares End Mixed; Qihoo, Statoil Trade Actively

International stocks trading in New York closed mixed on
Tuesday.
The BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts improved
0.13% to 122.02. The European index edged up 0.19% to 123.39, the
Asian index eased 0.17% to 126.51, the Latin American index rose
0.90% to 151.53 and the emerging markets index increased 0.81% to
200.89. Qihoo 360 Technology Co. (QIHU) and Statoil ASA (STO,
STL.OS) were among the companies with ADRs that traded
actively.
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (BABA) said
Tuesday that it is investing in an Indian mobile payments company
in its latest investment in the South Asian nation's booming
startup industry. ADRs edged up 0.75% to $57.82.
BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP, BHP.AU), the world's biggest miner, says
a global agreement on climate-change action would slow but not stop
demand growth for most of the commodities it produces. Revealing
projections for the first time as December's Paris Climate
Conference nears, BHP Chief Commercial Officer Dean Dalla Valle
assured investors in London Tuesday that the company has
"stress-tested" its global resources business, which includes coal
mines and oil fields. ADRs rose 0.82% to $30.73.
Efforts by an investor group to buy out Chinese
Internet-services provider Qihoo continue apace despite struggles
in the Chinese stock market, a top company executive said on
Tuesday. The group, which includes company co-founder and president
Qi Xiangdong, is waiting for a special committee established by
Qihoo's board to evaluate the offer. "This is going to be a
relatively long process," Mr. Qi said. He declined to give a
timeline. ADRs fell 2% to $45.12.
Norway's Statoil said Tuesday construction of the just-completed
Polarled gas pipeline cost 7.5 billion Norwegian kroner ($880
million), down from the initial budget of NOK11.1 billion. ADRs
rose 2.3% to $14.17.
