STOCKHOLM--Scandinavian airline SAS AB (SAS.SK) has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Danish regional airline Cimber A/S for 20 million Danish kroner ($3.3 million).

Since 2004, SAS had agreement with Cimber for the lease of aircraft and crew. Monday's acquisition provides the Scandinavian carrier with an opportunity to transfer smaller aircraft to Cimber in Copenhagen, the company said.

"The acquisition of Cimber, will give SAS access to a specialist within regional flights with a very competitive production platform that complements SAS' production of larger Airbus and Boeing aircraft," said Rickard Gustafson, SAS chief executive.

The transaction must be approved by relevant competition authorities, and is subject to other customary conditions. Final payment will be made in April 2015.

Shares in SAS closed at SEK16.10 Friday.
