Nominet Trust’s NT100 recognizes inspiring digital firms

The Level Market (TLM), the world’s first ecommerce platform for aid products, has been named to the 2016 NT100, Nominet Trust’s selection of the 100 most inspiring social innovations using digital technology to drive social change around the world.

As the UK’s leading tech-for-good funder, Nominet Trust will hold a press briefing and celebration in London this evening where TLM’s CEO, Stephanie Cox, will also be honored as an ‘Everyday Tech Hero’ and will be one of six firms selected to present.

Following a global call for nominations, TLM was selected by a judging panel including Oxfam, Skoll Foundation, Comic Relief and Big Lottery, to receive this award. TLM built, populated and launched the online marketplace in 2016. In-demand supplies such as tents and water supplies, plus humanitarian innovations, are featured on the site whose purpose is to make purchasing relief goods as easy as buying books on Amazon.

“It’s humbling to be among so many remarkable people embracing digital technology as a force for social good. We hope TLM’s well-deserved inclusion in the 2016 NT100 provides a valuable stepping-stone for their inspiring example of tech-for-good,” said Nominet Trust’s Director Vicki Hearn.

As a tsunami survivor, Stephanie saw first-hand how solar lights, cook-stoves, tents, and filters are desperately needed. Subsequently, as a field worker searching for water filters during the Ebola crisis, her frustrations with the archaic procurement processes that hamper the deployment of aid, led her to found TLM in March 2015 in Golden, CO.

“We’re building an Amazon for Aid! Being recognized with this award and as ‘Tech Hero’ will fuel our mission of getting relief and humanitarian supplies quicker to those in need.”

TLM’s marketplace features 200+ humanitarian products from 50+ global firms.

“With bright ideas, the right tech tools and a desire to change the status quo, everyone has the potential to make a stand against the world’s most pressing social challenges. The NT100 champions pioneers, in the hope that it inspires others to follow,” said Hearn.
