Mike Kormos Joins Exelon as Senior Vice President of Wholesale Markets and Energy Policy

Former PJM executive brings wide range of
experience in market innovation and design
Exelon today announced that it has named Mike Kormos as senior
vice president of Wholesale Markets and Energy Policy, effective
June 13. Kormos joins Exelon following a 27-year career with PJM,
where he most recently served as executive vice president and chief
operations officer.
In his new role, Kormos will be responsible for formulating and
advocating for Exelon’s positions on energy and transmission bulk
system policy planning, the development of effective wholesale
energy markets, the company’s participation with the North American
Electric Reliability Corporation and regional reliability councils,
and cybersecurity and grid reliability issues.
“Mike brings extensive knowledge of wholesale electricity
markets, which play such a critical role in our business,” said Joe
Dominguez, Exelon executive vice president, Governmental and
Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy. “His expertise in market
innovation and design, including his deep experience at PJM, will
strengthen Exelon’s policy efforts as we continue to advocate for
market reforms that will benefit our customers, our communities and
our company.”
Over his career at PJM, Kormos served as chair of the PJM Member
Markets and Reliability Committee and worked in various leadership
positions, including senior vice president of operations, reporting
directly to the CEO. He served as chairman of PJM Environmental
Information Services, a PJM subsidiary that developed a system to
track the environmental attributes of various state programs. Among
other roles, he also served as the executive sponsor for PJM’s
Diversity and Inclusion Council.
In addition, Kormos served on several industry boards, including
the Eastern Interconnection Planning Collaborative,
ReliabilityFirst Corporation and Eastern Interconnect Data Sharing
Network.
Kormos, who will report to Dominguez, holds a bachelor’s degree
in electrical engineering from Drexel University, and an MBA from
Villanova University.
