Melbourne International Airport (MLB) Executive Director Greg Donovan, AAE, announced a re-alignment of airport staff responsibilities including the promotion of key airport management positions. “We are fortunate to have the highest caliber of airport managers already in house. It’s time to elevate them and to broaden the scope of their duties to reflect the airport’s current and anticipated growth in air service, safety needs, capital development and international tenant relations.”

Donovan was recruited last year to lead the international airport which provides daily service from Delta Air Lines and American Airlines. Past president of the Florida Airports Council, he brings in-depth airport operations experience including Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) which handles 11 million passengers annually and as executive director of Pensacola International Airport (PNS), serving 1.5 million passengers. Under Donovan’s leadership, MLB has enjoyed double-digit passenger increases for first quarter 2015, with the goal of 500,000 passengers in the coming year. The Melbourne Airport Authority unanimously approved Donovan’s plan at its April 22nd meeting.

Melbourne International Airport is the closest airport to Port Canaveral and within an hour’s drive of Orlando’s world-class attractions. The airport is engaged in a capital improvements program exceeding $70 million, which includes refurbishment of the main terminal, replacing the air traffic control tower, resurfacing of one of its three runways and other major construction initiatives.
