CHARLOTTE, Aug. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- If you ask
Dell Curry what his greatest
accomplishment is, you might expect to hear about his NBA Sixth-Man
of the Year Award or the fact that he's the Charlotte Hornets
all-time leading scorer. But he'll tell you that his greatest
accomplishment has little to do with his NBA career. In fact, he
claims his greatest accomplishment is being a father.
Like any typical family, Dell
Curry and his two sons Steph and Seth would spend hours
playing basketball in their driveway. The two young boys would
imitate their father's every move. Under Dell's guidance and
instruction, the two boys developed their own shot, which led them
in their father's footsteps and paved the way for their own NBA
careers.
"I realized something early on, they could practice 800 shots a
day, but if they were practicing the wrong shooting technique or
form, they were just practicing to be bad shooters," said
Dell Curry. "So, I started working
with them on their shots. It is important for all young shooters to
have the proper coaching early on. It sets the foundation for their
success."
Coupled with Dell's 16-year NBA career and raising two sharp
shooters of his own, Jump Shot Genie was born. The basketball
training tool uses innovative technology to give players of all
skill levels access to their very own professional coach, right at
their fingertips. Dell hopes this will empower the players of
tomorrow to learn the right shooting techniques early on in their
careers.
"I go to shooting clinics all over the country, and it is very
common to see young players shooting with poor form," said
Dell Curry. "That's why we've
created Jump Shot Genie - to help players develop the correct
shooting habits and motivate them to become better players."
Jump Shot Genie allows players to record and submit their shots
from a smartphone or tablet. From there, they will be assigned a
personal coach who will provide a detailed shot analysis using
voiceover, freeze frame, split-screen and slow motion. Using Dell's
exclusive 18-point grading system that reviews all aspects of the
shot, their coach provides feedback and shares video drills to help
them correct their mistakes.
"Even as a former NBA player, I had my challenges helping my
sons train," said Dell Curry. "It
can be difficult for parents to know what techniques are the
correct ones to teach their child - Jump Shot Genie removes all of
their guesswork. Parents can be confident that their child is
getting the very best instruction and training from a reputable
coach."
The Jump Shot Genie App is available for download in the App
Store (iOS), on Google Play (Android) or on
