The Indian rupee declined against the U.S. dollar in evening deals on Thursday, as regional stocks declined on global growth worries.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex ended the session down 229.09 points or 0.82 percent at 27,602.01, while the broader CNX Nifty index dropped 62.75 points or 0.75 percent to 8,292.90.

The rupee hit 62.425 against the greenback, its weakest since February 28, and was down by 0.2 percent from yesterday's closing quote of 62.27. The next possible support for the rupee is seen around the 63.00 zone.
