LONDON--Faroe Petroleum PLC (FPM.LN) said Wednesday that drilling has started at the Portrush exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea.

The well, which is 20% owned by Faroe, is located 10 kilometers south east of the producing Statoil-operated Njord field, in which Faroe has a 7.5% stake and 20km west of the Royal Dutch Shell PLC-operated Draugen field.

AS Norske Shell is the well operator with a 40% stake. VNG Norge AS and Petoro AS both have a 20% stake.

The company also said it will announce the drilling results from the Boomerang well in Norway when drilling completes in September.
