Authorities investigating a bomb threat Wednesday at an Exxon Mobil Corp. refinery in Texas gave the all-clear signal after a search turned up nothing.

Workers at the 345,000-barrel-a-day Beaumont refinery had taken shelter inside the plant after the phoned-in bomb threat, said Marcus McLellan at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

"No device was found, so everybody's back to work," Mr. McLellan said.

Exxon spokesman Todd Spitler said the company thanks local, state and federal authorities for their quick action. He confirmed refinery workers have returned to their duties and operations are back to normal.

"We take security matters seriously," he added.

In April, authorities were called to Exxon's massive Baytown refinery near Houston after someone reportedly jumped the fence. Authorities searched the property with a team of dogs but nothing was found, and the 560,000-barrel-a-day refinery resumed operations later the same day.
