SAN DIEGO, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ESET®, the
global leader in proactive digital protection, today announced the
start of its third annual "Calling All Parents" (CAP) campaign.
Sponsored in partnership with the San Diego Police Foundation, COX
Communications, NBC 7 San Diego and the Securing Our eCity
Foundation, the award-winning campaign continues to raise public
awareness of cyber security and privacy issues and educate parents
on how to keep their families safe online.
"With the always-on nature of devices and social networking
sites, it is more important than ever that youth and their parents
are properly educated on cyber safety," said Andrew Lee, CEO of ESET North America. "We are
on a mission to close the cybersecurity education gap that exists
in many households by sharing best practices with parents and their
children, so all family members can safely explore and learn
online."
The program follows on success from last year's efforts, which
included a heartfelt public service campaign alerting parents to
the grim realities, signs and consequences of cyber-bullying. The
quality of the campaign was acknowledged when one of the PSAs
received an Emmy® for Director - Short Form from the National
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pacific Southwest
Chapter.
"NBC 7 San Diego is excited to collaborate with the San Diego Police Foundation and ESET again
this year, and have a new partner COX, to generate more awareness
around cyber safety," said Richard
Kelley, President and General Manager of NBC 7 San Diego.
"This visual platform is a great way to maximize outreach to our
entire community, ensuring families continue talking about these
important issues."
The third annual CAP campaign will consist of a series of public
service announcements on NBC 7 San Diego and cable networks on the
COX channel lineup that will direct viewers to SafetyNet, an
informative site that houses online safety tips and resources. The
campaign is timed to run through National Cybersecurity Awareness
Month in October and finish at the end of December 2014.
"The San Diego Police
Foundation remains dedicated to protecting all citizens of
San Diego online and on the
streets of our city," said Darlene
Kanzler, director, SafetyNet program. "The CAP campaign
provides awareness as well as resources that parents need to
educate themselves and their family on smart cyber choices."
