Cosi Inc. (COSI) named Yum Brands Inc. (YUM) veteran Scott
Carlock as the chief financial officer of the struggling sandwich
chain.
He succeeds Bill Koziel, who has been CFO of the fast-casual
restaurant chain since August of 2005 and before that had been
controller since joining the company roughly a year earlier.
"Fast casual" restaurants are considered a step up from
traditional fast food, but don't require the time or money that
waiter-service restaurants demand.
R. J. Dourney, who was appointed as Cosi's chief executive in
March, stated Thursday that Mr. Koziel "was a vital partner through
my first few months on the job as CEO. We wish him every success as
he continues forward with his career."
A company spokesman wasn't immediately available to comment
further.
Mr. Carlock, 46 years old, is a 13-year veteran of Yum Brands,
where he held several senior finance and accounting roles,
including senior finance manager for its KFC U.S. business.
