LONDON--CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings PLC (CFHL.LN), a
fiber-optic infrastructure operator, Thursday said it has signed a
contract worth GBP600,000 ($939,000) with wireless broadband
provider Connexin in Kingston-upon-Hull, England.
In a ten-year deal, CityFibre will extend its existing and
planned fiber infrastructure to 19 Connexin wireless hub sites, it
said in a statement. In Kingston-upon-Hull, CityFibre is developing
a network that includes clients such as mobile operators EE--which
BT Group PLC (BT.A.LN) agreed to acquire--and Hutchison Whampoa's
Three.
"This deal demonstrates the potential for further
commercialization of the network," said Finncap analyst Andrew
Darley.
CityFibre has built more than 540 kilometers of fiber networks
in the U.K. for service providers, mobile network operators, local
authorities and businesses. It is located in 61 towns and cities in
the U.K., including York, Coventry, Peterborough, Huddersfield,
Hull, Sheffield, Newcastle, Dundee, Bath, Derby and Doncaster.
It has also launched city-wide fiber projects in York,
Peterborough, Coventry, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh.
At 0712 GMT, shares were unchanged at 54 pence, valuing the
company at GBP57 million.
