Today, the international not-for-profit organization CDP named
Pitney Bowes (NYSE:PBI) to the 2015 “A List” for Climate Change
Transparency. One of only five firms in the industrial sector to
achieve the ranking, Pitney Bowes scored 99 out of 100 for
disclosure of high quality carbon emissions and energy data.
The announcement is timely as COP21, the UN climate change
conference, convenes in Paris, France November 30 – December 11,
2015. National leaders will meet on a global deal to reduce carbon
emissions and limit global temperature warming. Disclosures from
the world’s largest listed companies reveal the extent to which
corporations have shifted their strategies over the past five years
to become part of the solution to the climate challenge.
“As the world looks beyond the Paris climate change negotiations
and prepares for a low carbon future, reliable information about
how companies are responding to the transition will be ever more
valuable,” said Paul Dickinson, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder
of CDP. “For this reason, we congratulate those businesses that
have achieved a position on CDP’s Climate Disclosure Leadership
Index.”
“Building on a long tradition of corporate citizenship, we have
developed smart, sustainable programs that leverage physical and
digital technologies across our global operations and benefit
clients, employees and communities,” said Daniel Goldstein, Chief
Legal and Compliance Officer of Pitney Bowes. “It’s an honor to be
recognized by CDP for our efforts to minimize the impact of climate
change.”
CDP charts the changed corporate landscape over five years,
comparing data from 1,997 companies in 2015 with 1,799 in 2010.
Globally, companies are taking action and making investments to
prepare for the transition to a low carbon economy.
