BRENTWOOD, Tenn., April 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Twenty Brookdale skilled nursing communities have
received the highest possible overall rating of five stars from
U.S. News & World Report in the magazine's seventh annual Best
Nursing Homes review. U.S. News awarded the "Best Nursing Home"
designation to communities that received the highest rating in
February2015 from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS),
which sets and enforces federal requirements and standards for
nursing homes certified to receive Medicare and Medicaid payments.
The ratings are based on a community's performance in care, safety,
health inspections and staffing.
"Having 20 Brookdale communities receive the highest rating from
CMS speaks volumes about our community associates who are dedicated
to providing quality care to our residents," said Kim Estes, senior vice president of clinical
services. "As important as the rating system is, we encourage
consumers to tour the skilled nursing facilities they are
considering to get a firsthand understanding of the overall
environment they offer."
Brookdale communities that
received five stars include:

Nearly 16,000 nursing homes nationwide can be searched on the
U.S. News website for individual ratings. CMS recently revised the
criteria for the nursing home ratings system with an increased
focus on the use of antipsychotic drugs and new calculations for
staffing levels. CMS has also increased the baseline scoring needed
for achieving the highest star levels. Brookdale applauds CMS for continuing to
strive to increase quality of care.
"Brookdale has its own
standards of quality throughout our operations, from care to
programming, cuisine, the physical plant and more," said Estes.
"Our care standards are as demanding as those of CMS and in some
cases, even more so. Still, we are continually looking for ways to
improve so our residents receive the highest quality of care. "
