"We are very pleased to receive this prestigious award from Volvo Cars. It honors BorgWarner's collaboration with Volvo Cars and our primary objective to provide customers with leading turbocharging technologies," said Frédéric Lissalde, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Turbo Systems. "Our customers expect us to launch flawlessly and offer first-class quality as well as the best possible service at a competitive cost. At BorgWarner, we passionately pursue excellence, constantly optimizing our manufacturing standards and improving quality. I would like to thank our employees for their unmatched dedication. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Volvo Cars."

BorgWarner's R2S turbocharging technology for diesel engines combines two turbochargers of different sizes. At low engine speeds, the entire exhaust gas flow is directed to the smaller, high-pressure turbocharger, resulting in a quick rise in boost pressure. At higher engine speeds, the wastegate valve opens, and the exhaust gas is redirected to the larger low-pressure turbocharger. By optimizing the full engine speed range, the R2S turbocharging system helps improve fuel economy and reduce emissions while enhancing performance.

The turbochargers for Volvo Cars gasoline engine platform are fitted with a wastegate to prevent charge pressure at a very high engine power. To provide a high degree of commonality between engine parts in a compact design, BorgWarner engineers developed a sheet metal turbine housing with a virtually identical external geometry suitable for use in all engines. Built to deliver powerful yet efficient performance, BorgWarner's turbocharging technologies provide excellent torque characteristics over the entire engine speed range while improving fuel economy.
