LONDON, Jan. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the
Application Developers Alliance announced the launch of
IoT{Accelerate}Berlin, an Internet of Things competition for
developers and pre-launch startups. Organised in partnership with
Ericsson and Google, the project aims to spur innovation in this
rapidly growing market.
"IoT is experiencing substantial growth, and the opportunity for
European developers and startups to help shape its future is
clear. From connected cars and homes to health, wearables, or
big data solutions, the competition will help developers
conceptualise and produce innovative products for this growing
market," said Jake Ward, Executive
Director, Application Developers Alliance.
With connected devices projected to reach 50 billion by 2020,
and global economic impact to top one
trillion dollars, the incentives for developers to tackle
the challenges emerging from IoT are substantive, and interest from
the developer community and leading technology companies has
continued to grow through 2014.
Valter D'Avino, Head of Ericsson Region Western &
Central Europe, says: "Application
development is a fundamental part of the networked society enabling
superior consumer experience and driving network utilization. We
are very pleased to be part of this great initiative in
Germany; it is a perfect
opportunity to show how our vision of a Networked Society is coming
to life."
Focusing on areas as diverse as the connected home, utilities,
healthcare, telematics, wearables and big data,
IoT{Accelerate}Berlin comes with a €20,000 prize, mentorship from
industry experts and funding to attend key IOT events. The
competition centers around a 48-hour program of workshops, concept
planning and an industry pitch, that takes place from 27th-29th March 2015 at the Rainmaking Loft,
