Donation will help injured veterans gain
access to job training and education through the Warriors to
Work program
Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP), today announced its
support for U.S. service members with a $100,000 grant to Wounded
Warrior Project® (WWP). The donation will be directed to the
Warriors to Work® program, which provides career guidance and
services to WWP Alumni transitioning to the civilian workforce.
This year, the program aims to place 2,500 wounded service members
in employment that is well suited for their skills, with an
ultimate goal of employing 10,000 injured veterans by 2017.
“Our brave service men and women have made many sacrifices and
risked their lives to protect our country,” said Brian Pietsch,
head of community relations at Ameriprise. “Wounded Warrior Project
has an unwavering commitment to support those who have served. We
fully stand behind their mission and are proud to fund a program
that helps wounded veterans find fulfilling work as civilians.”
“While the term ‘wounded’ is routinely associated with visible
injuries, many warriors suffer from and are challenged by the
invisible wounds of war,” said Peter Gaytan, economic empowerment
executive vice president for WWP. “The Warriors to Work program is
important to our veterans who need extra support to find meaningful
work that allows them to use the skills they acquired during their
service. We’re grateful to receive a grant from Ameriprise to help
make this program possible.”
This new philanthropic initiative to support Wounded Warrior
Project further adds to the company’s pledge to employ veterans
through the 100,000 Jobs Mission, which is a coalition of companies
that have committed to hiring veterans. The grant to Wounded
Warrior Project also fits with the company’s ongoing financial and
volunteer support of programs that help people meet basic needs,
including self-sufficiency, hunger and shelter.
About Wounded Warrior ProjectThe mission of Wounded
Warrior Project® (WWP) is to honor and empower Wounded
Warriors. To raise awareness, WWP enlists the public’s aid to care
for the needs of injured service members, enable injured servicemen
and women to aid and assist each other, and provide unique, direct
