AMN Healthcare (NYSE: AHS), the nation's leading
innovator in healthcare workforce solutions and staffing, and New
York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), will present results of their New
Graduate Residency Program during the Association for Nursing
Professional Development (ANPD) Annual Convention in Las Vegas on July
14-17.
Jannise T. Baclig, PhD, RN,
clinical content director at The Center for the Advancement of
Healthcare Professionals at AMN Healthcare, and Margaret Rose
Morales, MA, RN, APRN, ACNS, NEA-BC of NYP, will present highlights
from the program, which the two organizations developed with
Gotham Per Diem, Inc. The program's
objective was to increase the pool of experienced RN applicants to
NYP while decreasing turnover and increasing retention.
The New Graduate Residency Program pairs a comprehensive nursing
orientation with a 12-month residency program at the NYP host
campus site, Weill Cornell Medical Center, to increase the skills,
confidence and professional satisfaction of new graduate nurses. As
a result of the partnership, New York-Presbyterian reported
significantly more nurses to fill its per diem nursing need.
"Nursing demand is rising rapidly, so training partnerships
between healthcare providers and workforce experts can be very
important solutions," said Marcia Faller,
RN, PhD, Chief Clinical Officer at AMN Healthcare. "The New
Grad program by NYP and AMN shows how a hospital, with some help,
can tackle the nursing shortage."
