BRENTWOOD, Tenn., July 6, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- AED.com, a
leading distributor of new and recertified automated external
defibrillators, recently donated four Powerheart G3 AED Emergency
Rescue Packages to non-profit organization, LiveBeyond, for use in
their ongoing support mission in Thomazeau, Haiti. LiveBeyond is a Nashville-based non-profit that provides
medical care, clean water, nutrition, education, orphan care and
community development support to the poorest region of Haiti.

The humanitarian organization began in 2005 as Mobile Medical
Disaster Relief (MMDR) serving in 14 different countries. MMDR went
to Haiti in 2010, when a 7.0
earthquake devastated the poorest country in the western
hemisphere. Countless lives were lost, half a million people lost
their homes, 30,000 children were orphaned and nearly a million
left injured. Once the initial disaster relief efforts ended,
LiveBeyond established a long-term presence in the poorest region
of the country, Thomazeau.
LiveBeyond hosts monthly medical mission teams to provide the
local people with basic medical care from American doctors and
nurses. They are currently building the first operative hospital in
the region, which will include a clinic, surgical suites an OB/GYN
clinic and an inpatient area.
AED.com was contacted by a relative of the team, who previously
volunteered with LiveBeyond, regarding a donation to assist in the
medical team efforts on an upcoming mission. Once donated, the AEDs
were taken to Haiti and the
Haitian National Palace staff and security teams were trained on
basic cardiac life support.
"It's seriously hard to overstate how significant this donation
is to our operation as well as an immediate need with Haiti's presidential administration," said
Jack Locke, US Operations Manager of
LiveBeyond.
In Port-au-Prince, Haiti, there
is not an option to call an ambulance in an emergency situation.
The AEDs and training course will provide the presidential staff
with the knowledge and skills to perform CPR and AED operations in
the event of an emergency cardiac event. The invaluable skills will
be passed down to other Haitians and will help save more lives.
