LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- OmniVision
Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced
digital imaging solutions, today announced from the Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) in Las
Vegas that the world's first 100 percent wireless high
definition (HD) camera developed by NETGEAR® will be
using OmniVision's video recording and processing chipset.
These components enable the battery-powered Arlo™ Smart Home
Security Camera to process and stream crisp HD video wirelessly,
thus allowing users to install the camera virtually anywhere.
"The HD Arlo Security Camera combines easy installation,
battery-operated true wireless design, and weatherproof
construction for a system that lets you put it inside or outside
the house, without worrying about finding a power outlet," said
Erich Volkert, senior director of
product management for NETGEAR. "By using OmniVision's OV9712
image sensor and OV788 video processor, the Arlo camera delivers
crystal clear HD image quality, power efficiency and superior
'instant on' video recording. OmniVision's leadership in advanced
digital imaging solutions makes them a natural fit for NETGEAR's
smart home innovations."
"OmniVision strives to work with companies like NETGEAR, with
its proven track record of delivering some of the world's most
innovative and practical devices designed to improve our everyday
lives," said David Ho, project
manager at OmniVision. "With its entirely battery-operated wireless
design, the Arlo Smart Home Security Camera has paved the way for
the next generation of home monitoring systems by combining
convenience with exceptional performance."
Utilizing the OV9712 CameraChip™ sensor developed with
OmniVision's proprietary OmniPixel3-HS™ high sensitivity pixel
technology, NETGEAR's Arlo Smart Home Security Camera can achieve
excellent scene reproduction in both extremely high- and low-light
environments. The ¼-inch OV9712 records high quality 720p HD video
at 30 frames per second, and provides full-frame, sub-sampled or
windowed 8-bit/10-bit images in raw RGB format.
The OV788 is OmniVision's ultra-low power video processor, which
enables NETGEAR's new smart home security camera with "instant on"
video recording and 720p HD video streaming over any Wi-Fi
network.
