Over on the other message board (LQMT) I’ve been trying to guess the identity of the “Tier 1 Medical Device Supplier” who participated in the last round of funding to the tune of $3 million. This is not a huge amount of money and only amounted to about 10% of the funds raised. I used the “top 10” medical device list and planned to concentrate on companies with some sort of a Boston (New England) connection since Movano Health has a joint program with MIT.

My GUESS is Phillips Healthcare (a sister division of Phillips Electronics the supplier of the RF technology). The next question is whether taking a financial position is the first step in a possible acquisition move…..ALL SPECULTION.

Maybe we can pump some life in this board……Dexcom announced a continuous glucose monitoring device today….It’s a patch that is applied to the back of the arm and it has a probe that penetrates the skin. I read a review on the CNBC website where the person testing the unit had bleeding on the first try and had to repeat the process on the other arm with a fresh device. Not exactly a perfect experience. The cost is $99/month ($89 by subscription) and is covered by most insurance plans. It communicates with a phone via Bluetooth with 15 minute updates. ..Normally needs replacement every 15 days.

Disadvantages….penetrates the skin to get a reading…subscription cost is huge …even though covered by insurance. Skillful marketing should circumvent this threat.

I guess “spell-check” has decided that when someone types “whether” …they really mean “weather” at least 88% of the time so we will protect them from being mistaken.

What could be delaying the FDA approval process?

Staffing at the FDA….work load ….vacations….

The “newness” of the RF approach doesn’t fit the established protocol……they may be concerned about the technology’s longer term accuracy and weather will continue to perform.

Asking for “more data” which is code for “our approval process is behind schedule and we need to create slack in our schedule”.

We have absolutely no control over the timing….I’ll bet a nickel they have never been early.

First…you need money for working capital to fund growth of the business, so raising capital is good even though it comes with dilution. Also good is $3.6 million raised came from “insiders” which assesses commitment (high). Investment from a medical device whale doesn’t hurt either.

Second …If the posters would research the sensor technology, they would learn that the competitors are using infrared transmission for the pulse oximeter and Movano uses radio frequency as its technical approach…and is unique. Apple ran afoul of Masimo patents and both are using IR.

Movano has more than 30 patents for the RF sensor technology makes them an acquisition target. I hope they get the opportunity to establish the enterprise before the offer comes,,,it would be a shame to sell out at $4 when it could be worth so much more down the road.

Not sure. LQMT investors are a little worried it might because of complaints about durability and scratches. Could be they sold out, but CEO publicly stated they had enough supplies on hand if there was increased demand. Some think something went wrong with the coating process. It’s anyone’s guess.

I forgot that people are hoping that Apple made them stop to buy them out and rebrand it Apple ring to compete with future Samsung ring.

I didn’t realize the Evie ring has not been available the last three weeks. Do you know why?

I only heard of MOVE by their involvement with LQMT. I am curious because LQMT had/has a relationship with Apple. With the lawsuit against Apple because of the oxygen sensor technology, it would seem that buying MOVE would be the perfect solution.

Apple also has patents for a ring device that seems similar to the Evie product. It is curious that the Evie ring has not been for sale for over 3 weeks and was wondering if Apple may have something to do with it.

It would seem to me once MOVE has FDA approval on their glucose monitoring chip that Apple would like to get their hands on it. Somehow. Not sure if that means MOVE keeps their women-centric Evie ring product line and sells Apple licensing rights to the chip or simply turns the whole company over and makes the Evie ring an Apple product offering, as they did with Beats by Dre and that $3B deal. Not the same since Beats was more about Apple buying the Dre name-culture-brand and in this case an acquisition by Apple of MOVE is for their tech. At which point medical grade glucose monitoring could then be incorporated into the AppleWatch and perhaps iPhone. That’s why we are invested. FDA approval of their glucose monitoring chip is a key event that they are working towards.

Any thoughts on the possibility that Apple buys MOVE to deal with outcome from Apple Watch lawsuit?
