A federal regulator is warning consumers to immediately stop
using ZAUTNKN.INC lithium-ion replacement battery packs that are
sold on Amazon.com and listed for Dyson vacuum cleaners.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday that
the Chinese-made battery packs pose a fire risk, aren't compliant
with national safety standards and aren't authorized Dyson
products.
There have been three reports of fires and one report of smoke
inhalation associated with the battery packs, the agency said.
The regulator is urging consumers to immediately remove the
battery packs from vacuums and dispose of them via a local battery
recycler or hazardous waste collection center.
The manufacturer, Ganzhoushimeizishengwukejiyouxiangongsi, has
not agreed to recall the battery packs or offer a remedy to
customers.
