United Parcel Service Inc. promoted George Willis to president
of the U.S. Western region, succeeding Jerry Mattes, who recently
was named operations manager at the parcel carrier.
Mr. Willis, who has been with UPS for 30 years, returns to the
United State after two years as district manager in the United
Kingdom, Ireland and the Nordic region. His previous positions at
UPS include stints as a division manager in the Rocky Mountain
district and manager of the East Carolina district.
Mr. Mattes will take the headquarters assignment after 38 years
with the company, starting as a package handler in New England in
1977.
UPS named Luis Arriaga, who has been district manager for
Western Europe, to replace Mr. Willis. And the company said Harld
Peters, who has been contract logistics manager for Europe, the
Middle East and Africa, would become district manager for Western
Europe.
