The Japanese yen strengthened against the other major currencies in the early European session on Thursday.

The yen rose to 117.73 against the euro and 108.08 against the Swiss franc, from early near 1-month lows of 118.46 and 108.94, respectively.

Against the U.S. and the Australian dollars, the yen advanced to 106.75 and 79.97 from an early near 1-1/2-month low of 107.49 and a 2-day low of 80.46, respectively.

Against the pound and the Canadian dollar, the yen climbed to 141.38 and 81.76 from early 6-day lows of 142.39 and 82.28, respectively.

The yen edged up to 74.53 against the NZ dollar, from an early low of 75.07.

If the yen extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 111.00 against the euro, 102.00 against the franc, 101.00 against the greenback, 74.00 against the aussie, 130.00 against the pound, 77.00 against the loonie and 71.00 against the kiwi.
