Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE: TFX), a leading global provider of medical devices for critical care, urology and surgery, will showcase its innovative minimally invasive surgery (MIS) instruments at the 2nd Congress of Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Disorders (SEUD) to be held in Barcelona, Spain on May 12-14, 2016.

During the event, Teleflex will present its percutaneous surgical solutions, including the Percuvance® and MiniLap® Percutaneous Surgical Systems as well as its diversified range of Weck® and Pilling Surgical Instruments.

The Percuvance® System from Teleflex, which has recently received CE Mark approval, represents a significant advance in minimally invasive surgery.

Procedures using the Percuvance® System make minimally invasive surgery even less invasive than traditional laparoscopic procedures through much smaller incisions resulting in less trauma, leaving nearly unnoticeable scars. At the same time, surgeons benefit from all the performance and functionality of traditional laparoscopic instruments but require fewer trocars.

The basis of the system is a 2.9 mm diameter shaft that, when connected to an introducer tool tip, can be inserted directly through a small incision in the skin without an insertion trocar. The introducer tool tip can then be exchanged outside the body for a wide variety of 5 mm interchangeable surgical tool tips. The shaft is sufficiently strong to hold structures, and surgeons can use its interchangeable tool tips to grasp, cut and manipulate tissue.

MiniLap® Instruments, with their slim 2.3 mm shaft diameters, can be percutaneously inserted using an integrated needle tip. The grasper jaws or probe can then be deployed to grasp or coagulate tissue. The patented deployment design allows grasper jaws to open up to 12.5 mm to grasp difficult structures.

The SEUD Congress will feature live surgery using the Percuvance® System: The session, “Hysterectomy with percutaneous instruments” will be performed by Dr. Cristiano Rossitto from Italy on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 09:00 a.m.
