GREEN BAY, Wis., May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Prevea Health
announced today the addition of Laura
Nelson, MD, MBA, as the organization's new Vice President
and Chief Medical Officer—Northern Division.
In her role, Dr. Nelson will work with associate medical
directors, department chairs, physicians and senior managers to
guide patient care and policy direction. She will provide the
strategic support needed to ensure a quality of care that meets and
exceeds patient expectations.
"Dr. Nelson has a deep understanding of health care in
Wisconsin, and has cared for our
state throughout her entire career," said Prevea Health President
and CEO, Dr. Ashok Rai. "She brings
with her an exceptional level of experience as a physician
executive, along with diverse patient care experience in both the
outpatient and hospital settings."
Prior to joining Prevea Health, Dr. Nelson spent 21 years with
Marshfield Clinic where she served in a variety of roles, most
recently as Marshfield's Chief
Medical Officer. She began her career in a clinical setting and has
since spent 17 years in health care leadership throughout central
and northern Wisconsin.
"Prevea Health has an excellent reputation throughout
Wisconsin," said Dr. Nelson. "The
organizational culture and the clinic's commitment to the patient
experience—the way they treat everyone like members of a family—is
what drew me to Prevea. I'm excited to start the next phase
of my career with such an incredible organization."
Dr. Nelson's primary office will be located in Green Bay, but she will serve communities
throughout Northeast Wisconsin
extending as far north as Marinette. She will officially join Prevea
Health in late July, and will succeed Dr. Karla Roth, who recently returned to her
clinical practice caring for Family Medicine patients at the Prevea
