MORRISTOWN, N.J., May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jersey Central Power
& Light (JCP&L) will hold three open house events for
community members to learn more about its proposed $75-million Monmouth County Reliability Project
(MCRP). JCP&L will provide additional information about
the project and answer questions at:
- Brookdale Community College, 765
Newman Springs Road in Lincroft on
June 7, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m.
- VFW Post 2179, 1 Veterans Lane in Port Monmouth on June
8, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 12
p.m.
- North Centerville Volunteer
Fire Company, 372 Middle Road in Hazlet on June 8,
2016, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The MCRP has been proposed to enhance service and modernize the
electric system. The proposed project includes a new 10-mile,
230-kilovolt transmission line and substation enhancements that
will benefit nearly 214,000 customers in Monmouth County. Modern technology will
allow JCP&L to monitor and respond to customer power needs.
The proposed transmission line will feature sleek monopoles,
rather than the bulky lattice-style towers that were used in the
past. It will use an existing public use right-of-way already
containing electrical equipment servicing New Jersey Transit's
North Jersey Coast rail line. Following necessary approvals,
the MCRP will provide approximately 245 temporary jobs while it is
being built between June 2017 and
June 2019.
