MU-MIMO, along with other wireless technologies such as Bluetooth,
GNSS, NFC, and ZigBee-targeting smart home, wearables, mobile,
computing, consumer electronics, video, automotive, industrial and
enterprise markets. The IoT market will enable new features and new
ways of leveraging embedded computing and connectivity for
consumers, industry and enterprises. Earlier this year, Marvell
announced 88W8997, the industry's first 28nm Wi-Fi 11ac 2x2 Wave-2
and Bluetooth combo product. 88W8997 unlocks innovative use cases
and peer-to-peer applications by taking wireless connectivity to
the next level with enhanced radio performance, lowest power
consumption, and high level of integration, as well as new
capabilities such as Wi-Fi Aware, precise indoor location and
spectral analysis.
"Our enhanced EZ-Connect family of products and comprehensive
portfolio of Wi-Fi solutions, reflects a significant advancement
for the entire IoT market and we are proud to provide the expertise
and tools to allow our customers to easily develop and bring to
market today's leading smart devices," said Philip Poulidis, Vice President and General
Manager, Wireless and Internet of Things Business Units at Marvell.
"We're proud to power the most innovative networked products
throughout multiple industries and will continue providing
high-quality, low-power and cost-efficient solutions to drive IoT
forward."
The 88MW300/302 Wi-Fi Microcontroller SoC, the flagship chip in
the EZ-Connect family, has been available since early this year and
has already been adopted by leading global OEMs to develop a broad
range of IoT products including: White Goods, Air-Conditioners,
Thermostats, CO/Smoke Detectors, Toys, Wireless Storage, HomeKit
accessories, and other Smart-Home products. The first OEM products
are already in the market and many new products are expected to
launch in the coming months. Marvell has also partnered with
leading smart-home platforms including previously announced
partnerships with Apple's HomeKit and Xiaomi's Smart-Home
solution.
The 88MW300/302 Wi-Fi Microcontroller SoC is supported by a
Software Development Kit that includes tools and documentation to
help rapidly engineer connected devices, allowing developers to
focus on the unique features, services, and applications of their
IoT product. In addition to programming in C/C++, developers can
script applications in JavaScript using KinomaJS, a comprehensive
and open source JavaScript 6th Edition runtime optimized for
embedded microcontroller class products.
Marvell also announced today a growing ecosystem of partners
including IoT Cloud platform providers, wireless module suppliers,
and engineering design houses. Marvell's IoT ecosystem partners
further facilitate and simplify the development of IoT products and
provide OEMs with a choice of trusted complementary products and
services to develop their products.
In addition to the 88MW300, Marvell also announced that its
integrated Dual-Mode Bluetooth Microcontroller SoC (88MB300) is
available today. The highly integrated SoC with a powerful
Cortex-M3 microcontroller and generous 512kB SRAM along with
dual-mode Bluetooth 4.2 support, enables a new class of Bluetooth
enabled products and is being used by customers developing toys,
IoT gateways, remote controls, wireless audio, HomeKit accessories,
and automotive solutions.
