Australia's Downer EDI Ltd. (DOW.AU) said Tuesday that its engineering unit had secured contracts valued at more than A$400 million.

These include a two-year contract valued at A$170 million with Wesfarmers Ltd. (WES.AU) for the expansion of its Curragh Mine in Queensland state, and more than A$90 million worth of contracts with BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP) for its Rapid Growth Phase 5 iron ore project in Western Australia state.

Sydney-based Downer also has secured more than A$70 million worth of electrical and instrumentation contracts for the Woodside Petroleum Ltd.'s (WPL.AU) Pluto LNG Project and additional electrical contracts with clients totaling more than A$75 million, it said in a statement.

The company's work-in-hand remains in excess of A$16 billion, Downer said.
